Christmas Tree Card Holder

Supplies:
Cardboard
Scissors
Tape
Wrapping Paper
Hot Glue/Hot Glue Gun
Ribbon

Time: 45 min - 1 hr

Step 1: Find a large piece of cardboard. I turned my kids "boat" into an "igloo" for this one.

Step 2: Cut out a tree shape. I made mine about 28" tall and 18" wide. You can go bigger or smaller, depending on how big your cardboard is and how many cards you want it to hold and how close together you want to place the cards.

Step 3: Wrap it! Lay your tree out on wrapping paper and cut around the tree leaving 1.5-2 inches to fold over the edges. I cut diagonally at the corners before folding to make them nice and neat. Then tape the wrapping paper to the back of the cardboard working your way around.

Step 4: Lay the ribbon out in a grid pattern on your tree. I spaced them about 4.5 inches apart.

Step 5: Hot glue. I hot glued the ribbon intersection one at a time. I glued the bottom ribbon with one dot of glue then glued the intersecting ribbon on top with one dot of glue. Repeat for each ribbon intersection. Once you hot glue all of the ribbon intersections you will hot glue the ends of the ribbons to the back of the tree. To do this I ran a line of glue along the edge where the ribbon was going to fold over the edge, stuck the ribbon down, then glued the end to the back. This kept the edges nice and smooth and kept the ribbon flat.

To make the hanger for the top: Cute a 14" length ribbon, hot glue one end to the back just below the top of the tree, make a loop and then glue the other end.

Let the glue cool and it'll be ready to hang!

Step 6: Display your cards! I used single prong metal hair clips to attach the cards (I use these to make ribbon hair clips for Audrey! The card at the top has a ribbon lined clip, I'll do a tutorial for those another day)
